RE: Is oil changing needed? **quick question**
I would try to find out if the engine that trans was attached tooverheated. If so this trans could need a rebuild after you install it. Very dark trans fluid is not a good sign. I just bought a 95 and am going through the process of replacing all fluids, belts etc. I am going to drain and pull the trans pan to inspect and get any accumulated dirt out of it. You just need to clean the trans filter as they are just a metal screen that keeps the rocks out. Unbolt it, clean and re-install. While you're there don't forget the differential as itis separate from the trans. I would also look to see if you can replace the rear engine crank seal and front trans seal while you have it apart. I'mnot sure how these engines are put together yet but investigate any seals that can only be replaced while it's out of the engine bay.
