Default replacing Fuse Panel

I was replacing a fuse in the panel just below and to the left of the steering column and when I pulled out the blown fuse (or maybe when I pushed in a new one) the metals contacts in the receptor slot must have fallen behind or got pushed into the fuse box.

anyone have any experience with something like this that can offer advice or a heads up to some of the problems I might encounter?

Can i repair the fuze slot if I get the panel out or is it sealed closed?
I have had the dash off before but don't recall how tied in the box is.
any words of wisdom would be great -

much thanks!

The box is not potted or such. Any backing cover can be removed to access inside.
