Default Stiff steering issue

I bought my xle camry a month back. The steering of the car is very stiff especially if I am turning or going on a long drive. Also, the car feels like drifting towards the right side. I was driving Honda Accord before, the steering was so easy. I was able to manage the steering with one hand (not that i recommend that).

Would appreciate if someone can suggest any solution for this problem.

Thanks

How stiff?

Does it take both hands to turn the wheel when parked, if so the issue could be the power steering pump is not working correctly. Should be able to turn the wheel with one hand, car parked or on the hwy.

The drift issue could related to the stiff steering or could be something else such as tire pressure, alignment.

What year of Camry?

Toyomoho

Thanks for the reply. Its a 2011 camry. I just now drove on a freeway and as I get around 65-60mph, i could see the steering not responding smoothly. Just feels like the car is bit unstable not sure why but not as smooth as my Accord.

I think the car has electric steering, not the old hydraulic assist system your Accord had. This could explain its strange response behavior.

Since the car is new ask the dealer to check it.

Might do a Google search on this problem as other new owners may be noticing these issues.
