97 v6 camry le. Want to change transmission fluid but not sure what brand/type to use. Says to use dexron iii but no longer available. There are conflicting opinions at auto store as to which one is right for the car. Any thoughts?

 

Look for something called Dexron III/Mercon, Dex/Merc, Import MV ATF, MD-3.

What auto store did you go to?

 

I went to autozone. But I finally found it in parts authority. Tx. My shift solenoid e code is coming up. The tranny fluid is black. Do you have an opinion on changing filter and fluid?

 

Are you going to keep the car?

Black is not good. Change all the fluid as per the method in a post I made to site on Sunday.

Solenoid could be a separate issue.
