Default Turn Signal

I have a 1994 Camry with a turn signal problem. The turn signal flashes very rapidly. I have changed all the bulbs and changed the flasher, but nothing has worked. Any other ideas for me to try? Thank you.

Did you replace flasher with OEM or aftermarket?

I got the flasher at Napa Auto Parts. Do I need to get one from a Toyota Dealership?

Usually if the flasher operates faster than it should it means that more current is flowing through it than normal. For instance if you connect trailer lights to the system it may flash faster due to the increased draw through the flasher. Usually the use of a heavy duty flasher will solve the problem. The flasher you got from NAPA may or may not be the correct one. If the light system isdrawing more juice than it should, maybe from a grounding power wire, then the stock flasher may flash faster. But if all is well with your wiring and you are not blowing fuses then I would switch out the flasher unit for either a HD or one from Toyo (which may be HD anyway).

Pedro,

I took a working flasher out of my father-in-laws camry and put it in mine, but it still blinks fast. Do you have any other ideas that I could try? Thanks.

You're going to have to do some tracing. Have you made any mods to the lighting system? Things to check:

>extra lamps (such as a trailer) in the circuit, without upgrading the flash unit.
>incorrect (too high) wattage of the bulbs. Did you replace with correct part #s?
>wrong bulb in the system (ie: a single element bulb, instead of a dual).
>Shorting of the lamp system. Try removing one bulb, then another, then another, to see if the flash rate improves. The last one removed that slows the flash rate may be the circuit to check. You can also try removing and replacing bulbs one at a time to see if any improves the flash rate, then check that circuit.
