Default Valve cover leak

got a 96 camry with 264k miles and just had its third timing belt put in and a water pump. The mecanic told me i had a valve cover leak, he noticed there was some oil under my motor but i never realized cause it never actually dripped. Idk how long its been doing it, however i do know it burns oil cause i am usually a court low whenever i change the oil. but just figured it burns more cause its old and the seals are worn out. Was wondering how much that would be to replace, i know head work never is cheap and/or something i need to get done asap. The car runs amazing. Feedback would be cool, thanks.

I had 96 camry 4 cyclinder... same thing leaks...valve cover gasket... I bought gasket from dealer and put it in myself... The part was cheap maybe $20 and easy install... really easy to do and easy access... And yes,, my one also burned about 1/2 every oil change ...3k miles. typical toyota camry BS... blue smoke tailpipe on startup in morning or long rest.. Yeah, its the valve seals...But it cost like $400 or more...quoted... Sorry.. I will just live it and just watch or add my oil...1/2qt every 3k miles is nothing.

And good time to change your spark plugs if it needs it...

How come the mechanic didn't change the valve cover gasket since it was right there when he did the timing belt job..
