On my path to TRD
I'm new to the forum, but not new to the Toyota Camry. I've had three of them. The 3rd is my current daily driver. My current is a 2012 Toyota Camry XLE. I'm very ambitious with what I plan on doing to my car. As the title says: I'm going to embark on a path to TRD glory. I know what many of you might be thinking. Why!? Why do I choose to go this route instead of just buying one? That's a good question. I was really in need of a daily driver, and this is what I found. So! This is what I have to work with. I'm the second owner, and it only has 150,000 miles. The 4 cylinder is peppy and great on gas, but I want more! I can do some basic things to it, but what's the fun in that? I would also like to document my progress via my YouTube channel. If you don't think this is going to be possible then I encourage you to tune in. I've done some minor things to my car so far. None of which have gotten on to YouTube as of yet. I've done a K&N intake, Wheels, seat covers: I'm not really happy with., door handle covers to match the paint. I've already purchased the Bodykit from duraflex, but I'm not super happy with it. I'm thinking about modifying and creating my own style. I know there's not much on the market as far as aftermarket body styling goes. So, I'm going to be creating many custom parts. I'm not a professional! I haven't created any of my own parts or molds for anything before, but if I accomplish this with good useful molds, then I will make custom parts that I can also sell. If this journey sounds good to anyone here? Please! Let me know. I'll include my YouTube channel info once I post my first video, and know people are interested in this transformation. Thank you for reading this.
TRD glory is quite the goal, especially with the 4 cylinder but there is hope. This hope will be boosting whether it is turbo or supercharging and chances are it is going to be expensive. Intakes and exhaust systems are not going to get you to TRD level.
Also, upgrade the brakes the to the Highlander conversion set up, one of the best mods for the 7th gen Camry and cheapest.
Be sure to keep us updated with your progress and post links to your videos as well.
It is also good to do videos on things you are not happy about so other Camry owners can know what to expect and/or avoid.
I look forward to your journey and keep posting here, please!
