i want a turbo enigne. how do i do it do i need a different engine or will the 3sfe work. what about the trany will it hold any more power.

 

i also inquired about this for my 91 camry 3sfe and the answer i got from the shop was that this is a very expensive thing to do on such an old car if u have a s**t load of money then yes i can be done but ur tranny wont hold the best solution is to get the 3sgte half cut and swap everything from that into ur car thats what i was told to do ..

 

Yea deffinitey do not turbocharge a 3SFE motor. It was made for reliability, not for power. The 3SGE is a different story. It has different heads (i think) for more power, but sacrifices reliability a little bit. If you wanna turbocharge an old camry your best bet is a 3SGTE swap. Just keep in mind that if you do this it won't be like swaping motors in a chevy. You'd have to mess with things like wiring to get it to run properly. As for the tranny; if you don't drive it hella hard, it should hold, altough a stronger tranny would work much better.
