something came off from above the gas pedal and got in between the gas pedal and the floor, so i felt the stop when trying to accelerate, i had to pull over to check what was the issue, and found this little piece.

now, i don't know what this is or where did it fall from, i want to know if its something important that need to be replaced or put back.

Year of car?

Does the other end of the item have some kind of thread formed into it? If so look up under the dash for a hole that might fit the threads. Could be an adjusting screw for the gas pedal or brake light switch.
