Default 2001 Camry giving me a bouncy ride.

[]
What do I need to determine if my carrequires its suspension adjusted or repaired?

I don't think I am getting the quality of ride I should expect from a Camry. I have a very sensitive back condition. I can sense almost every bump or stone the car rolls over.

During the past few months the car ride seems much worse.

However the local dealership tells me there isn't anything wrong with the car or its ride. I'm the first owner and I've always had this car serviced on time to include having all of the recommended maintenance accomplished by the dealership. The car has 105k miles on it and it's been through two sets of tires (never noticed any abnormal wear).

This is the 1st time I feel my concern is being ignored. The dealership has always been very accommodating and I don't want to make a big issue in case my suspicions are wrong.

I'm not able to inspect the car very closely by myself. But if I can get some tips, I'll ask my neighbor to help me check things out.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

The struts can wear out over time but typically this result in sloppy suspension feel (loose).

The typically test is to push down on the front and rear body (one end at a time) until it is oscilliating up and down then release. If the bouncing stops within 2 cycles the struts are OK.

The Camry does have a suspension that transmits each bump, etc.

You can always have the struts replaced, the dealer would be the most expensive for parts and labor. You can also have aftermarket struts installed by a third party shop. You will need to do some checking as all struts are not alike. Some allow a firmer or softer ride. The Toyota OEM struts appear to have a softer ride.

Might do some research on suspension to better understand the role struts play in ride quality.

Thanks for the advice toyomoh,
I'm going to try the OEM struts like you mentioned. I haven't found any other products that make a reasonable guarantee. I meant to answer earlier but had too much going on to visit the site. But thanks again.
