'03 camry seat heat switch
#3
So after two attempts I managed to remove the switch. I actually bought the same switch on ebay for $20 so I could study how it was made and that helped figuring out how to remove it without taking the dash apart.
Fortunately the ebay part came with working bulbs so I just exchanged the bulb and re-installed the switch.
After more searching on-line and looking at schematic diagrams, I have found the part number of the bulb, so will re-order from Toyotapart.com. So if any one wants a good right front heater switch with working bulbs (plus I tested the switch function) for a Camry I have one.
Here is the switch and the bulb, and no it's not the same bulb that goes in the heater control panel:
For anyone wanting to buy a new switch the part number is 156936 and they can be had for around $60 to $70.
The bulb part number, green bulb with the brown cap, is 90010-01061
The switch comes right out of the dash by gently prying on the left hand side of the switch, which maneuvers the switch out at an angle. Then it's just a matter of disconnecting from the wiring harness. Piece of cake when you know how!
I'm probably going to put the switch back on ebay once I receive the new bulb,=.
