Default BSM Trouble Light Costantly On

Hello everyone. A couple of years ago my Blind Spot Monitoring System Trouble Light came on. I believe my car probably got hit in the rear bumper causing a sensor to go out of alignment but I'm not positive that is the case. After researching the cost of buying a new sensor, I decided it wasn't worth it and I simply shut off the BSM system by using the button located to the lower left of the steering wheel. Fast forward a couple of years and now the "BSM" trouble light located up by my speedometer is permanently on even though I have ensured the system is shut off. Has anyone experienced this issue? Might you have some suggestions of how I should proceed to identify the problem? I'm pretty handy and I would like to attempt to identify and correct the problem myself. But at bare minimum, I need to stop that trouble light from illuminating. I have taken excellent care of my car since I bought it new and I can't allow a trouble light to stay on.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer.

Thumbs up Thanks Patonium

Hi Patonium. Just a quick "Thank You" for taking the time to send me that link. I'm going to check all those fuses as soon as I get a chance. Much appreciated.

Default Blind Spot Monitor Diagnostic Update

Thanks to the link sent by Patonium, I removed and tested the four fuses that are related to the blind spot monitor (BSM) system. All fuses were working properly.
I decided to physically inspect the sensors, and I followed an excellent YouTube video by "HappyWrenching.com" in order to remove my rear bumper. Upon inspecting the sensors, the right sensor looked fine and the left sensor was out of alignment, corroded, and broken open. It was obviously hit and knocked out of alignment even though the rear bumper showed no damage on the exterior. There were small gouges on the inside of the bumper where that bracket was hit. The corrosion at the electrical connector was so bad that I wasn't able to salvage the connector, so I cut, taped, and shrink wrapped the wires for now. I was hoping that isolating the wires would at least stop the dashboard idiot light from being on when I had the BSM switch turned off, but it didn't.
After watching a YouTube tutorial by "ADAS Aiming" titled "Toyota lexus BSM SYSTEM CHECK" , I'm toying with the idea of trying to correct the angle of the bracket by banging it out from inside the trunk. I've located a used sensor on ebay and I'm currently trying to find the connector with no luck so far. I feel confident that I can get things back where they belong, but I have no idea if the new sensor needs to be programmed and/or reset. There doesn't appear to be a lot of information available on the internet on this subject.
I'm also interested if there is some way to shut off the BSM system all together. If Toyota Service Techs could deprogram or remove it, and that dashboard light would stop illuminating, I would be fine with just looking over my shoulders.
Thanks again for your assistance and any thoughts/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the update and sorry that the problem is persisting. I wonder if you could pull a fuse/relay and the whole thing would just go away?
