Great job!

Also check the PCV hose for clogging.

If no change in smoke then assume hardened seals. There is a post somewhere on the internet that explains in detail (with pictures) how to replace the seals with heads still on engine. But it is time consuming and tedious!

Use a heavier oil like 10-30 and throw in a can of STP and see how it goes. Its not wroth throwing tons of money at it

Havoline oils may have good cold-weather performance, ensuring proper lubrication during start-up in colder temperatures.
