Default I changed battery on 02 Camry, now it....

I changedthe battery on a 2002 Camry, now the idle runsroughfor a few seconds then shuts off. As if the idle needs to be turned up or the car is running out of gas.But if I press the gas pedal before it shuts off the car will stay on andit will idle fine atall speeds of the pressed pedal. As long as I keep the pedal pressed down the car will stay on.Does anything need to be reset? What happened and how can I fix it? Thank you all for your much needed help.

If a 4 cylinder the 2002 may have an electric throttle. The computer controls the throttle plate, not the gas pedal.

Removing the battery may have reset the computer.

Try driving the car around for about 15 miles combo hwy/city and determining if the problem goes away.

If no help, reset the computer again by removing the cable then immediately after starting do the combo city/hwy drive of the same miles.
