Does the TQ shudder problem cause damage if it goes unaddressed?
My 2012 camry has the TQ shudder problem. The warranty on it expired a little under a month ago and the dealer wants $2400 to repair it. The guy I talked to at the dealer told me that it typically won't get worse, is this true? To my understanding the shuddering is a "slipping clutch problem" and in theory would get progressively worse but I don't know. I just wondered if anyone didn't get the issue resolved and if it ended up ever developing into a more serious issue.
Im new to toyota so i am not sure if this will work on a toyota but it was a fix for common torque shudder in certain ford models.
If you are beginning to experience torque shudder and it is not that bad yet you can try to stop it by getting a transmission filter kit and new genuine toyota fluid. If the shudder is really bad or has badly worn parts it may help a little or may not help at all. I would not recommend a flush at the dealer as i dont trust back flow flush methods and thats what many dealers here do.
Drain and pull the trans pan, replace the filter, and reinstall the pan and re fill with new fluid
