Hello again, thanks for checking in.
Unfortunately after the mechanic put in a new distributer and I drove it home yesterday evening, we went shopping this morning and same thing happened, it stalled on us, first slowing down, all dash lights came on for a second and I had to veer trying to turn into a side street with no power.
Not happy and gingerly drove it back to the mechanic. No word today so it will be tomorrow Friday when we learn something.
He had told me it was the distributor and no other codes came up but said the problem could even be the new distributor. I told him I doubt it since with the old distributor the problem began and so it must be something else. He said he could put back in the old distributer and give me a refund!! That would take me back to square one.
We'll see.
Thank you.

Just a brief update.
I picked up my Camry from the mechanic and it's running nicely, smoother, and drove it around for quite some time.

It WAS the actual distributor after all. It seems the one they used to replaced the original was defect and so another new one took it's place this morning!
The mechanic said they do occasionally replace parts with new parts that are defect, more nowadays that before.
Thank you for your help and support.

Was it a rebuilt distributor or NAPA brand?

Check out the link for your PCP part.

Hello again. Just a message to say we were on a busy Portland street, rush hour earlier today- Friday and the car stalled!! Dash lights came on for a couple of seconds! Thankfully after about three minutes on the main street and honks from behind it did start up again although it shook until I gave it gas. Got home. Worrying again to drive it.
I left a message at the mechanic shop which is closed until Monday so we'll see.
When I picked it up on Tuesday they said they had fixed it and even let it run for 2 hours and also took it a six mile drive with no incident.

With it shaking at start-up and (apparently) needing gas to keep it running, could it be the fuel line/ filter (although it does really good on gas) or oxygen sensor?
At a loss.
The mechanic told me that only the distributor and 'nothing else' came up during the diagnostic.
Just wondering if anyone has any idea before I run it down there on Monday.
Thank you for any input and help.
