Default high idle after rebuild ?

hi !

i just rebuild my 5sfe and project went great. i also converted from auto to standard tranny. i also removed a/c since it did not work anymore. i could also mention its a celica convertible with 5sfe but there is a big lack of activity on celica forum compared to here

anyways, since rebuild, idle is very high. it was at 1600 rpm about when warm ! i have now unplugged a/c vsv valve. its now at 1200 rpm, but i cant seem to lower it so i cant really time it right. i tried to play with all controls with ecu pins on e1 and te1 pins. but cant get it lower ?

i tried fidling with tps, timing, but i cant seem to find the problem ? i now have about 800 km on engine, it does not burn oil, prestone or anything abnormal... any suggestions ?

thanks

Year of Celica.

What is idle when engine is cold?

If A/C switch is turned off, idle should not be effected. Computer is tied into AC clutch wiring to vary idle speed based on compressor load.

Idle is also linked to coolant temp sensor, is sensor OK?

Assume you checked for air leaks. Might pinch various vacuum hoses going to the throttle body to determine if one has too much air flow.

i did change all vacuum hoses, so leaks ''should not'' be a problem but i'll check. when engine is cold its at about 1600 rpm or 1800rpm, so nothing out of the normal i guess (at about 15 degrees C).

ill check engine coolant sensor, maybe its defective ?
hope one of those work out, cause i have a race in 2 days 9yeah i dont expect to win with a stock celica but its still fun).

If i cant fix it, is there a way to time engine accuretly at 11000rpm ? i dont see how it would be accurate.
