Default starter problems?

so my car starts but here and there when i go to start it ( usually in the morning first start) it just gives me a click. At first my dad said it was the starter, then he said maybe i need to get my batt check to see if its defected. just wanted to see if anyones had this problem? could it be the cylinode, whole starter, or batt.?

ps. have a 2000 camry 1mz

Default RE: starter problems?

You hear the click and the engine does not turn over at all? But eventually it does start and runs OK, if so the plugs and battery are OK. The engine would not turn over or start with bad plugs or battery.

If above OK, then the power from the battery is not getting to the starter motor. Check the battery terminals for corrosion and the cables for damage. Check both ends of the cables.

If OK, the contacts in the starter solenoid that turn on/off power to the motor could be worn. The solenoid is a part of the starter. It controls power going from the battery to the starter using a relay switch.
