V6 misfiring and transmission issue
Hi,
I have a 2007 camry V6 3.5L. Current miles around 122k miles. Bought it when it was around 90k. Around 2 years ago, I took a 650miles trip back and forth. During and after the trip, I felt my gear change was delayed. Around 1 year later, I got check engine light on which Autozone+ a mechanic translated to V6 misfiring. But after resetting the check engine light, it never came back. My mechanic told me not to worry until it comes back. However, I still have this delayed gear change issue, and during 4th and 5th gear shift I can clearly feel the shift. After some internet search, ;looks like there could be relation between belated gear shift (i.e. shift at higher rpm than usual with a push) and engine misfiring. ALso, I wanted to check transmission liquid level but it has a closed system. So, I am worried that while there is no further misifiring light/warning, this might be causing problems in my transmission. While I am willing to change spark plugs/ignition coils, someone told me not to change the original Toyota parts unless you have to. So, I am in a dilemma if I should wait for the check engine lights before I change anything, and would like to know ur opinion if the transmission is infact linked to engine misfiring.
Thanks.

The trans case may be closed but the trans fluid will still wear out. Toyota has procedure for changing the fluid. If it has not be changed in 100K miles it needs changing and better to change at 60K miles.
When first starting engine for that days drive move the shifter slowly from Park to Low and back to Park. Some recommend this will fix the issue but who knows. Worth a try.
Flare can be caused by a trans software issue, failing trans clutch, torque converter, wrong trans fluid.
