Default 2011 2.5 Camry when cold it makes a whining noice

I have a 2011 2.5 Camry when cold it makes a whining noice seems to be comming from power stering pump. Looking on the internet it seems this is a Toyota problem. Will I be wasting my time bringing in for service? I hear they say this id normal. It quiets after warm up. Any recalls?

Might check at Toyotanation as to if anyone has received a dealer fix for this.

Might go through the motions and complain to the dealer. If Toyota does nothing at least your complaint will be on file as complaining. The pump issue may be just noise or an indication of manufacturing problem that eventually leads to failure.

In the past after enough owners complaints for a particular problem Toyota has taken action leading to a repair. Sometimes the repair period extends beyond the normal warranty time.

Its a toyota defect, My dealer changed both pump and tensioner but the sound is not completely gone(May be rack also have minor issue and causing excessive back pressure to the pump). Its less than before. I think there may be ac/alternator/water pump tensioner also bad or any component that these belts drive. Toyota stealers are not trying enough to address this issue. You have to really try hard to get things done. And its not the stealers only its toyota itself is pushing things to the owners. So people has to live with this nonsense buying their bad product. May be its time to move on to different brand.
