Airbag light on
The light being on means a trouble code is stored.
Airbag lack of functioning would depend on what code was set.
Dangerous depends on interpretation. The system is not going to trigger itself. However in crash, a bag may now not deploy or the system may not work at all depending on the code(s).
Are you handy with tools? There is a built-in diagnostic system.
Find a small plastic box inside the engine compartment. Inside are electrical terminals.
Turn ign or ACC on and wait 20 sec.
Connect Tc and E1 terminals.
If codes are stored the SRS light will out a two number code. One number at a time. Example code 31 would be 3 flashes, pause. Then 1 flash, longer pause.
Once all codes are outputted they will repeat.
