Default bike rack, trunk

I have a 2012 LE and a bike rack for the trunk, mounts on trunk lid up against the back window. Problem is the clamp goes over and under the edge of the lid and the window goes under the lid as well-bummer. Will this damage the window?

I watched a youtube video of a similar bike rack with straps and clamps on a 2014 camry, were there and changes in the lid or rear window design from the 2012?

Would assume the rear window and truck lid setup would be the same between years. Here Toyota would be just changing the looks of trunk lid for styling.

Can you take a trunk lid hook off the rack and check it at the installation locations for fit? Or make a mock up of the hook to use.
