I have a 98 4cyl camry. I bought the car in March. I drive it a farely long distance everyday for school. I started noticing a sputter when i drive over 50 mph and the RPM goes up to the 4anytime i try to accelerate. When it finally broke down, i triied to accelerate and instead of accelerating, the RPM went up to the 7 and would not speed up. I slowed down and then tried to speed up again and it wouldnt. I pulled over and turned off the car and when i tried to start it back up it made a horrible noise. I put 2 bottles of oil in it and it started but only went for about 5 minutes and then shut off again. The battery light and low oil light came on, but only when the car shut off. I had to get it towed. Now the only noise it makes when i try to turn it on is a clicking noise.The lights work so i dont think its the battery.

I have no clue about cars, as you can probably tell. And i need help! Any advice?? Thankyou !

 

if its alot of fast clicks it probably is the battery. If it is one kinda loud click its it probably the starter motor.
