Default Idle engine problem

If anyone could help me I have an issue with my toyota camry 1996, When I get stuck in traffic my car starts rumbling and the rpm's start moving back and forth from 600 to 800, I changed the throttle position sensor and it was adjusted all the way, but the idle will not go all the way to 1000 rpm's.... Is there a way to raise the idle another way?

Default RE: Idle engine problem

There is list of things you need to check.
- vacuum leaks
- egr
- last tune up?
-clean throttle body
camry's are notorious for poor performance due to dirty throttle body.

To clean TB, remove air intake hose. Use carb cleaner. Engine off, spray inot holes and sides, manually open butterfy and spray in there too. USe old toothbrush and rag to clean/ wipe as best you can. There are tiny openings on the inside walls that lead to the tps and and other vacuum lines. These build up deposits and constrict airways. Put it back together and start car. It will hesitate a while might be hard to start a few seconds, but once it does it will clear up.
