when i start my 05 xle 4 cyl. my maint. light flashes about six time than turns off . I have about 1,000 miles left on my last oil change. can someone help thanks.

 

Try the following:

Turn ign on
Have odometer display "ODO" not trip
Press and hold the reset button when doing the following:

Turn ign key off and then on.
Hold reset button until the flashing lines on the odometer disappear, the mileage indicator returns and the maint light stops flashing.

 

A flashing Maint. light is there to indicate that you are approaching the required maintenance interval. It will stay on solid once you actually reach the mileage interval. I wouldn't reset it until you actually have your oil changed as this is there to serve as a reminder to do so.
