Pissing coolant

You would not be the first to need to do this.

After removing the plugs clean the area of the block the plug seats into. This area can corrode or have a burr that may result in leaking between the new plug and block.

Some people use epoxy to glue the new plug into place or use a non-hardening sealer such Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket or "Right Stuff." A well stocked auto parts store should have one or the other.

Brass plugs are better, steel is OK but remember to use coolant and change it after say 36 months to prevent corrosion.

When the engine is out now is a good time to replace the timing belt (if needed) and check for leaking oil seals. Plus check for aging coolant hoses especially the short "L" shaped coolant bypass hose attaching to the coolant exit manifold on the head.

Remember to refill the differential with fluid.
