Question Question on '87 2.0 for sale, injectors wont squirt

This probably is a bad deal? The '87 2.0 4cyl wagon is a silver LE with alum wheels, sunroof and interior looks good, its got 200,000mi. A/C compressor was removed and long gone, maybe the brackets also, the guy wasn't sure.

Any way, it wont run but said it did when parked. He changed the fuel pump but injectors wouldn't squirt. He said it has spark. The wagon's been sitting for about 8 years outside and engine has corrosion on surfaces that i can see in pics.
Q
Any ideas as to why injectors wouldn't spray. He thinks electrical like a bad wire, i'm thinking computer, and if so where should we look. Does this sound too thick to get into....

Wonder how long I'd have to wait to find a perfect one of these equipped with the goodies I like?

unless it was given to me free
i would walk away from this one

sitting for 8 years mean issues ......will need a complete full going over and fluid service

200000 km is getting high .....will need timing belt

no air con is expensive to re fit and gas the system back to factory

injector issue
could be a
relay or fuse or something simple
or
bad ecu (computer).if so .as an import hard to source a used one that is the correct ecu for the model

to check injectors
needs a pulse tool to check if the injectors are getting any current

Lightbulb another question

Thanks for your input dirtyhands . reminds me got to get some hand cleaner. I might go see wagon tomorrow, its about 40 miles away

I know theres a safety relay or the like that shuts off the fuel pump if motor stalls, could that also shut off the injectors. If motors not running its not pumping gas, right. There should be a way to jump connections in the fuse box to bypass that safety circuit , any thoughts

i wonder if stale fuel is the reason for no start

if the engine light is on when you are cranking the engine
the ecu computer will have stored fault codes

https://www.engine-light-help.com/to...ine-light.html

if no engine light then its a simple fault

try some off the shelf " start you mug " spray into the throttle body
to see if the motor wants to try and run

this model does have a fuel relay
as you turn the key you should be able to hear the noise of the fuel pump pumping

The pump will only run when the engine is cranking over or running.

Find a small plastic box on the passengers side of the strut tower. Then inside the box jump the B+ and FP terminals. This will allow the pump to run when the ign switch is on.
