bought a 1999 2.2 auto. 2 weeks ago with 149,000. first day it stalled pulling up to my workplace. it stumbled 1/4 mile before it stalled. started back up immediately. replaced wires that nite because it had been raining when it stalled and thought wires were the cause. for 2 weeks it has run flawlessly, until today. did the same thing. any ideas?

 

Was it raining when it stalls?

 

just the first time. what's weird is that it happened at the exact same spot in the road next to a major construction site. 2 weeks apart. ??????

Stalled as in the engine died when driving or engine died at idle or engine started running rough and adding gas did nothing?

 

driving at 45 mph the motor started stumbling like cutting out adding gas did nothing. then stalled 5-10 seconds later.

 

Might be a failing fuel pump.

 

ok. where is the fuel pump relay? maybe i can check that first?

 

Check inside a narrow relay box, left side of engine compartment. Marked CIR OPN.

 

thanks joe, will do. cleaned the IAC this morning. took it for a quick spin, seems ok. going for longer ride now. hope its good.
