Hello I'm new here, my name is Sal. I own a 2014 Camry SE with just over 76,000 miles on her. I'm trying to decide if I should purchase an extended warranty or take my chances if any major repairs arise. I take very good car of my cars. I've owned american muscle cars for decades. Warranty as advertised on TV or a Toyota dealer warranty?

 

I have quotes from both my bank and Toyota, pretty compatible. Just was wondering if it is worth the investment.

 

What are your reasons for considering an extended warranty?

Extended car warranties can be good or a can of worms.

What are the quotes and what company is backing them? This is the actual company that will be managing the warranty. You can private message with info if you wish.

Is the Toyota dealer selling a real Toyota corporation backed warranty or a third party warranty sold through the Toyota dealer? Toyota corp typically limits the ability to get a warranty to car less then 3 years or 36K miles.

These warranties are real money makers for the sellers who can act as third party salesperson and get up to 50% of their purchase price kicked back to them. They are also money makers for the company that manages them. That's why they are pushed onto car owners.

What are the warranties year and mileage limitation? Such as the warranty expires after say 8 years and 120K miles.

Have you read the warranty coverage and limitations. Some are very restrictive, have limitations on what they will pay, etc.

Non-Toyota warranties are generally a mixed bag, some OK others bad.
