Default 2012 Camry engine turns, will not start

Our 4 cylinder Camry, with 75000 miles, will spin the engine but doesn't start. Any help is appreciated.

Check for ign spark when turning engine over.

Do you have another ign key? If so try it.

Tried another key, same problem. Sounds like the motor speeds up a little while cranking. I didn't know how to check for spark with the coils being directly over the spark plugs. The positive battery terminal was covered with white powdered stuff, so I removed both clamps, cleaned battery posts, charged the battery and replaced the positive terminal. Had my wife crank the car while I sprayed starting fluid into the filter housing. No start. I tried cranking while holding the accelerator pedal down, and the engine ran. All I have done is clean the battery posts, replace corroded terminal and charge the battery. Toyomoho, thanks for the good advice.

Hi, seems like I’m having the same problem you had. After I disconnect the battery terminal and reconnect it everything works fine until the next episode. No codes or anything of that nature. Long shot but did you ever fix the car?

Soon after cleaning the battery terminals we went to the dealer for a scheduled oil/lube. Dealer said the battery needed replacing. Battery replaced, no problems for past three and one-half years.

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately I’m not so lucky. More than like an ecm for me
