Default 2007 Toyota Camry 3.5 v6, 302000 miles. Maintenance advice

Hi everyone,

I own a 2007 Camry that belonged to my father who drove the bulk of the miles on it. I’ve owned the car for 2 years and driven it from 288000 miles to now 302000 miles. Never really given me any issues. It was always the backup car, but due to life circumstances (drunk driver totaling my RX350, and not wanting to daily drive my boxster S), it is now my daily driver for awhile (I drive 25000 miles a year).

The car has always been well maintained fluids wise- oil changed every 5k religiously, transmission every 50k and coolant every 100k. However everything else seems to be original which scares me. I began doing some preventative maintenance and found the car had the original denso/toyota spark plugs and coils (AT 300k MILES!). Changed those out, all filters and fluids, valve cover gaskets and various o rings and seals.

As far as I know everything else is original- water pump, possibly even drive belt? Idler and tensioner pulleys, wheel bearings, axles, upper VVT oil line, etc etc. I am going to begin working on this but does anybody have recommendations for other work to be done? I plan to start with that VVT oil line and drive belt, and check the water pump pulley and all the others with it and go from there. Are there any other items you all recommend specifically for a 300,000 mile car?

Thanks everyone
Rob

The 3.5 is a great engine and typically is bullet proof with the regular maintenance. The VVT oil line is a good place to start though and should be pretty obvious if it is bad. That being said, upgrading to the newer all metal feed line is a paramount move. You have also done your homework which bodes well too, so cheers there!
The belt should be fine unless it show signs of wear or is making noise. Change for peace of mind I guess?
Same goes for the water pump as far as cooling, seepage, etc.
The oil changes, spark plugs, coolant change, etc should keep your 3.5 very happy.
I run a '12 3.5 and I have done nothing to it other than oil changes,, tranny drain and fill, filters, but I only have 113K miles too. I will be doing plugs here in the next month or two but other than that, I am going to keep running it as is.
