I have a 1998 camry 4 cyl that needs rod bearings I need the specks on the crank so I can determine whether I need over sized bearings or not. Also I have a valve tick and want to know if they are adjustable and how.
Any help would be appreciated.

 

Std rod journal dia is 2.1653 - 2.1655 inch.

Under size is 2.0372 - 2.0376 inch.

Max out of round/taper is 0.0008 inch.

Valve clearance is adjusted with shims. The internet should have posts on how to do this.

Put a light coat of engine oil on bolt threads and under nut face that will contact the rod.

Alternate tighten nuts on rod in several passes to reach 18 ft-lb.

Use something to mark the top of each nut head in a location facing the front of engine.

Continue to tighten nut until the mark is rotated 90 degrees from original position.
