Default 2013 Camry Water in Spare Tire Well

I've noticed some water in the trunk in the spare tire well. Not too much - I can mop it up with some rags but I've now noticed it on a couple of different occasions so it wasn't a one time thing.

I've seen other posts about this that suggest a leaking vent on the driver's side but I think my issue is different.
The trunk lid on the passenger side is slightly high at rear corner above the taillights and I wonder if that's causing an imperfect seal between the trunk lid and the weatherstripping.

So can anybody tell me how to adjust the trunk lid so it's perfectly flush with the rear quarter panel?
I've found videos on YouTube that talk about adjustable stops at the bottom edge of the trunk lid but my stops are just rubber feet. They're not adjustable at all.
Does anybody know how to adjust it?

Thanks.

Any chance the trunk lid or body was damaged?

You may need to add shims to lower one hinge in relation to the body and with this lower that rear side of trunk..

Toyota does sell shims but don't know what fits your hinge. You want a trunk hinge shim not a door or hood hinge shim.

Unless the body/lid damage a body shop can easily do this.

I was rear ended a few years ago.
It was low speed and there wasn't much damage - just some bumper cover damage and the trunk lid was knocked out of alignment.

The body shop that fixed it seemed to do a nice job, and I never noticed water in the trunk main compartment.
I only noticed water in the well the last two times I removed the spare to check the tire pressure.

The first time, I ignored it thinking it may have been there from before. So I mopped it up and forgot about it.
Now, a year later I removed the spare again and there was a little water again (but much less than last year).

So I'm now trying to find the source and the trunk lid seems like an obvious possibility to me.

I could go back to the body shop but it's 45 minutes away. I was hoping it might be something I can tackle myself.

A photo might help.

Was any portion of the trunk carpet wet such as at an edge.

Check for a damaged and or improperly seated to chassis trunk seal. If water is getting above the tail light it would go down the inside of chassis to the well. Look for signs of water here.

Check for water leakage around the tail light fixtures plus and through holes where the license plate light, rear camera (if equipped), license plate, etc, attaches via its through the body sheet metal screws.

Inspect the wheel well to make sure any holes in the well floor sheet metal are firmly sealed with a rubber plug.

The chassis may have a smaller well on each side of the tire well. It may be possible for to water can get into one well from a side of body air vent to the outside.
