IT'S RUNNING!

The ignition coil wiring diagram on page 106 shows a fuse labeled INJ that controls power to the coils. That fuse is in the main body fuse panel underneath the dash. When I pulled it I could see that it was bad. Not having spares that would fit, I robbed the one out of the FOG slot and inserted it into the INJ slot. The car cranked right up.

Reminds me of the old adage that you always find the things you are looking for in the last place you look.

 

I learned one thing from this that might be of help to anyone having a similar problem. If you have a bad connection to one of the coils, the immobilizer won't let t he engine run. It will crank but die in about two seconds. Simply remove the #1 coil connector and crank it again. If it dies, replace the #1 connector and remove the # 2 connector and crank it again. Keep doing this until the engine cranks and runs. Whichever coil connector you have off at that time is where the problem is.
